Re: It Rocks!
Murmur.com has a developing set list although only one tentative title for one of the new 10. Thanks very much for all the info. Look forward to the recordings and I will upload from tonight /tuesday if the quality from my olympus ( very small and robust) is any good.

Re: It Rocks!
OK Star is finally awake.
I have things to sort but in the mean time here is my set list in it's raw state. I guessed at the song titles of the new ones so feel free to laugh.. Poison Pen Close My eyes Here we Are Mr Richards Live a Million Years Never Choose Give me Song Till the Day is Done Nobody Cares Accelarate (we loved this one) Of the Oldies we got Maps and Legends (one of my favs) These Days New Test Leper Little America Electrolite I'm Gonna DJ (ok I know it's technically new but we've heard it several times now) Ended with DJ. The whole set was fairly short but we were treated to lots of chat from Michael which is priceless. He communed with his lap top the whole time and apologised for wearing trainers but compensated by wearing a tie. Peter seemed to be having a ball. I've never seen him smile so much or be so up the front and energetic. Mike was wreathed in his usual beaming smile throughout. We spotted Peter's twins in the box above us and and Bono and The Edge were there too. You don't have to queue unless that is what you enjoy. We turned out of the excellent pub next door at 5 to 7 and got in a good spot with no rushing. We were about 5 rows back and I'd say front of the mosh was not the best place as the stage is pretty high. The sound was OK if not stunning and the theatre itself is a proper old fashioned cherubs and red plush affair. We had a good "craic" drinking Guinness in Brogans from around 5.00 and meeting Dr Suess - who is very pretty and wild fun, Seb from Ireland and four other random fans I picked up in the bar. As befits his star status George W arrived late but made up for it by standing with us for the gig and putting the REM world to rights. He loves his music. He also made me laugh so hard people stared! The after gig party was great and James has an embarrassing video of Mummy and Dr Seuss dancing to R.E.M. and singing along to the Killers. Dublin is amazing. It was as busy at 1.30am as Oxford is at 1.30pm. What a weekend! ![]()

Re: It Rocks!
Yes we are back and recovering. I nipped out at 10 to see my chiropodist who said I had the most perfect pair of feet she'd seen in a long time. She massaged the "after standing at gig for three hours" pain away and told me to literally put my feet up for the rest of the day - so no gym for me.
I don't think we had a call from daughter number one, but we had so many texts etc flying this weekend she may have got lost in the noise. Merc should be back this afternoon. I miss it. It's back to apples and salads now until the holidays after a weekend that started with Julia's lemon drizzle cake and champagne and included two fab meals at The Bistro outside in the warm Dublin sunshine plus two large Irish breakfasts. Our hotel seemed to be in the red light district ! and the pavements were full of cafes and good places to eat and drink coffee. There was also a very tempting vintage clothing shop........

I love Dub too, it is a fabbo place, although rather too tempting in regards to shopping and Guiness!!!! Gym in the morning then to work off the Dub trip???????

Re: It Rocks!
OK.
I now have to say all that in three other forums. Dublin is so small and good looking. We walked round Trinity College (what a perfect place to go to university!) and the famous Lush store and past the museums and galleries which were tempting but we had no time. Also tempting was the Viking boat buses (SImon knows what they are really) that you can take for a frip round the bay. I think the helmets with the horns are required wearing. We took in the Castle and had a drive through Phoenix park with the Pope's cross and Dubya's residence and the millionaire's streets by way of a diversion from the traffic queues to get into Dublin airport. It was warmer and more sunny than murky Oxfordshire. Wish we could have stayed longer. It's the only downside of my job that you have to always be there at the school gate.

Re: It Rocks!
BTW the music was very up tempo, at least it is now. Still sounds pretty reminiscent of Up and ATS rather than Monster and AFTP. It always takes me a while to really get into a song so it's hard to say what I really will like, but the Million Years song stood out for me although now I have some idea that this is an oldie anyway (Ooops) as well as Accelerate. The overall impression was of a lot more energy than there was on the last album and since that's what a lot of fans have been wishing for that's a good thing.
It's all very much work in progress. Michael took up his pen and made a correction halfway through a song and there was lots of discussion among the band. I think they are very brave to share the process with us. The place was full of real fans. They recognised the oldies from the first bar and went wild for the new stuff. No pushing and shoving like at Hammy. You could even go tot he bar and back without spilling your pint. Right - time to wake up the video maker and get the songs on air..................
