It Rocks!
More later on the adventures of star and rain and James and a cast of dozens but the important thing is that the new music rocks. Peter was on top form ; high kicking and jummping and front of stage leading the music. Michael was wonderful and totally relaxed and charming as never before and from a first hearing I think we are going to love it. I made an attempt at a set list but not knowing the titles of the new stuff makes that even more tenuous that normal. Accelerate stands out so far, plus "1,000,000".
These Days and Electrolite for encores lit the place up. We partied till late although in Dublin seems to think midnight is the new 8.00 pm! This town is fun. More later. First some breakfast.

Re: It Rocks!
It's impossible to sum up yesterday evening in one post, so I'm not going to try. Confessions first - a week without a proper night's sleep, an very pleasant afternoon's drinking Guinness with friends old and new, and no supper led to me getting a little wobbly during R.E.M.'s set, so I had to leave stargazer and GWB holding the fort centre-stage while I had a little rest...
I saw the rest of the show from the side, which was fine apart from the sound not being quite as good. I'm pleased to say that the console was a Midas. Sue is right - it was a rocking performance. There was hardly any slow or quiet material, and the Dublin crowd seemed very happy with that! As might be expected given the "rehearsal" billing and the "THIS IS NOT A SHOW" text projected above the band, it was quite ragged around the edges, and all the better for it IMHO. Comments on individual songs is a bit tricky without knowing any titles...Oh, and David Kitt rocks too... I'll try and say something more coherent after breakfast. |

Re: It Rocks!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I recorded the whole gig on the phone by the song as far as audio goes and the camera does videos- which I got most of the gig with (also does audio). Fairly steady shots, thankfully. It appears the staff care not for taking your cameras away! There was a guy with a fairly serious decent video camera (real DV cam) wandering around, hopefully he has some good stuff. I'll shove the videos on YouTube soon as possible. All is well over in Dublin- we're in the hotel room at the moment packing, though I'm sticking around here with the laptop for a few more hours while the others go for a walk. Gig summary from me: Fucking awesome. If they just burn that gig to CD, they've got a new album which will be a thousand times better than Around The Sun, and probably match Monster/AftP. Edit: I'm uploading a video Michael requested be "uploaded to the internet immediately so I don't have to repeat it every night". And a song. I'll post in a bit. Michael: "This one won't be on the album. Oh, ok, maybe. Maybe it'll make the B-side." Mike: "There are no B-sides, it's all MP3s!" Scott: "There are no A-sides, either."

I'm sorting out a video now ![]() Edit: This laptop is not particularly fast, but Windows Movie Maker (Ugh) has finished compressing... and given me an error message. 10 minutes till it's done compressing, then it's a matter of trying to upload it before we need to check out. Here's to hoping for performance! Edit2: Here it is! Might still need to be processing for a bit, but enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/?v=6gq9hHZV6eU
